Reconing Speakers
Re-Coning is the technique of removing ALL parts from the speaker frame and replacing them with new O.E.M. parts.
If the speaker shows no continuity, sounds scratchy, distorted, is ripped or doesn’t have the sound or response as it was new, it NEEDS to be Re-Coned.
Re-Coning involves striping the frame of old parts, cleaning the frame of all glue, cleaning the Voice coil gap. Then put in a new Voice coil and spider, cone and lead wires. Let it cure for 1 day or 2 (depending on model) then we recheck alignment, run a sweep test to make sure it responds as new. Next we put on the Dust cover (dome) and frame gaskets, and dope the compliance (edge by outside frame) if needed.
ALL SPEAKERS MUST PAST THE SWEEP TEST AND A MECHANICAL TEST BEFORE SHIPPING!
